I have always considered myself athletic……needless to say, when I graduated from college I ate what I wanted and when I wanted. I exercised here and there, but never considered myself a “runner.” In 2009, I got the urge to sign up for a half marathon. I signed up for the Austin half marathon alone and began my training. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2010, I made it through my first half marathon race with Matt (my now husband) cheering me on at the finish line. After completing this, I was hooked on running. I continued to run and started worrying about my weight. Matt and I started to run together and a year later we ran the Houston half marathon in 2011. The next year was crazy for us with training. We then ran the San Antonio Marathon in November of 2011 and the Houston Marathon 2012. We never gave up on running and ended up completing the triple series which consisted of a half marathon, 25k, and 30k prior to running the 2013 Houston marathon again. I now can’t imagine my life without running! Amongst all this running, I had really paid attention to my diet. Over the course of a year, I had lost 30 lbs. As of now, I have gained about 8 pounds back, but feel like I don’t have to run 50+ miles a week and calorie count to maintain this healthy life. You can chuckle at these photos.
